Dapo Lam salutes 3SC players
Oyo State sports commissioner
Dapo Lam Adesina has tasked 3SC to win the league and play international
football next year.
"You promised to win the league and make a continental ticket last season, but you failed to accomplish it despite our motivation for you,” Dapo Lam told the players.
"We must lift a trophy this season because we are tired of staying at home and not travelling to Mozambique or Tunisia and you know what this means.
“No more Father Christmas because we have been treating you fine since August 2011, when we came on board but you have not repaid us and we are not happy about this.
“Though you are doing well, that is not enough, you have to turn around the club by ensuring we play international football next year. We have the players to do this.”
He further challenged the Shooting Stars.
"Win us continental or league and see what we will do for you, that is what we expect from you. If you finish well, we will do what will surprise you, what has never happened in the history of the team, you will receive. I promise you that.”
Shooting Stars open their 2012/2013 season campaign on Sunday at home to Gombe United.

Rap natural is an art, while gospel is neutral-provabs
Let us into your
background?
My name is AINA OLA OLUWASANMI. I’m known as PROVABS.I grew
in Lagos state.
My dad is from Ondo state, while my mom is from Ghana. Am a confirm Yoruba boy. I schooled on Cross River
state, for my secondary school. I’m schooling at LASU, for the moment. I’m
studying Industrial Relation. I‘ll be rounding up very soon.
Do you plan to take
up career, after your graduation?
Well, I’m studying something related to management, so I
will likely delve into the entertainment side of it. I love entertainment. I
see a lot of things that could be done in the entertainment industry.
What gives you that
creativity to sing?
I can’t really say, but it just believes that it inborn. I
just do more to what I have already.
What are the
challenges you face as an upcoming artiste?
Well, I would say the finance aspect and relationship part
of it. The established artistes should to appreciate the talents and gifts that
are in us. They should help us to be ourselves and work better.
You are a gospel artiste;
does that mean that you can’t sing any other song except gospel song?
No I won’t, I can address issues. The issue is that I
started rap in a gospel way, so that I can reach out to my fans out there.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m from a point of view whereby God is not only interested
in the way you worship him, he is also interested in our everyday activity.
It’s time we make it a way of life. I think Christianity is the better way to
do things, and not the other way round. That’s my own opinion. He has blessed
me in so many ways.
Where do you draw
your inspirations from?
I get my inspiration from God, which is the first person I
draw my inspiration from. Because there is sometimes, man can’t be there for
you, but he will always be there. Its either two things that is, if you want to
get inspiration from him, either you believe in him or not, the choice is
yours. He is a major inspiration to me. Moreover I’m surrounded with great
minds, that even if I don’t fall, I learn from their mistakes
Since you started
singing, where has this taken you?
So many places, I will start with my fatherland, which is Nigeria.
I also went to South Africa,
Namibia
to perform and since then I have being getting phone calls and messages, which
are really appreciating to me. It is a platform that was given to me, b y One
Management, which is owned by Emen Ime I can only say that God blesses her more
and more.
How do you come in
contact with one management?

Can you tell us any
happiest moment in your career?
It was a show I went to do a show in UNILAG; Bouqui was the
one who organized it. To me it was an honor to be gracing the stage with people
that I always watch on television, while growing up.
Do you have a record
yet?
Let me put it this way, I have a record in 2009, it was just
something that I did by myself. But last year I had n album, which is titled
MIND THE GAP. The “GAP” means, Gospel According to Provabs. It was the limited
edition; I’m now working on the street version of it. It will be dropped by
April, this year. The limited edition was put together for my fans that have
being waiting.
The street version of
your album, how many artistes are going to be in it?
A lot of artistes like;
Wizkid, Vigil Larry, IBK Social boy, Protex, Praiz. It is going to be
packed fully for my fans.
Why gospel rap?
Rap natural is an art, while gospel is neutral. People are very
neutral about it, they are either in the world or they are not in the
world. One needs to know what he or she
is doing to attain such goals. That was how I stuck with gospel rap. It is one
of the ways Gospel is accepted out there.
What have kept you going?
I believe in what I’m doing. I know what I want, am focus
and determine in getting to my goals I have set aside for myself and I’m always
on the right track.
Where do you see
yourself in the next four to five years?
Well I see myself going around the world, more albums; see
myself reaching out to a lot of people through my music. I’m not really so interested in the accolades
or awards, but I know if I do a good job, people will appreciated me a lot
Do you have any
advice for upcoming acts?
There is nothing than you being focus on what you aim to
get, don’t get sidetrack for some that will not add any value to what you want.
They should also endeavor to put God first in whatever they are doing; they
should also work hard and never give up.
I don’t see myself doing a Collabo with an artiste who does not follow God way- OMO OBA ORUN
Let’s get to meet you?
I go by
the name Olalekan Olaitan Ogunyinka. My stage name is OMO OBA ORUN. I’m married
to Adebola ogunyinka. We are blessed with two lovely kids. I finished from the
federal polytechnic Ilawa. I read marketing, after that I joined a professional
institution, that’s deal with advertising, which happens to be a newspaper. I
have being in the media for seven and the half years. I was the assistant
manager in the advert department, and since then, I have being grateful to God
almighty.
When did you start music
professionally?
I
immediately started my music career, after my National Youth Service (NYSC),
when I got back to Lagos,
in the year 2002. While I was doing my NYSC, in the north, sometimes, I come to
Lagos, to
perform shows.
How did you start your band?
That was
in the year 1998, or so, I was still a student, when I started my band. I have
performed for so many people.
Since you are into music, why
didn’t you study arts or music?
I have
flair for marketing, while music, I thought to myself why don’t I use the talent
God gave me. I was doing marketing full time, while i was doing music part
time, because it was my passion. I was like let me do what I want to do.
Did you go for any training for
you to be a musician?
Well, I
was in the choir, before I moved to the Band. I have been in the choir for
three years. I play some of the equipment in the church.
Which band was that?
It was
called GLORIOUS BAND, and then I was in ND1.
At one point of your life did you
decided to leave marketing and face music?
In 2007,
I have discovered that the band has gotten to a stage it has to move forward.
It was clashing with my job as a marketer. I thought t myself, now the band is
having shows to perform, and I had a job on the same day. Since then, I have being working out a way
for that. I decided to let go of that and unfortunately, the company I worked
with was having issues. I decided to back out, and with God on my side, I don’t
have any cause to regret that decision.
When you left marketing for music,
what was your wife reaction?
My wife
actually knew that music was taking my time, apart from the job and we have
being living together. She understands my decision. People see musicians as those that are not
serious; it all boils down to how you handle it. I see this as professional
job, not something you just wake up and do. It’s not everybody calling. I’m a
professional musician. The experience I got from my marketing job, has
distinguished me from other artiste.
When you quit marketing, didn’t it
cross your mind that you would be competing with the likes of Yinka Ayefele?
I have
this belief in life that, what we call competition is just like marketing.
Wherever you find yourself, what you need to aspire is to make yourself better.
This music of a thing is very wide, if you can plan, package, and work it well,
you will fit in a place that will suit you best. Once you are being known, some
people in the A class will come to your event. I have played for Gold link
Insurance, corporate functions of some hospitals, banks and a lot of them.
You seem to have a lot of
corporate clients, would you say your experience into marketing is giving you
an edge?
I would
say yes, because anytime I see some of my former colleagues, they are surprised
at what I’m doing. My meeting in the corporate world was not a joke. I guess it
has helped me in becoming whom am I today.
So if you look back, dumping your
marketing executive career for music you don’t regret?
Like I
said earlier, I don’t regret it, not even for a day. Its one of the best major decision
I have taken in my life. I can remember vividly, when I told my pastor that I
would leave the job, he congratulated me. It was like I was free, it was then I
understood what my pastor said to me. There was no more asking about how much I
would bring from my salary. Leaving the job, gave me time to think some things
down on my own and it has given me opportunity to stay with my family.
How often does the job come?
At times
we do it on Monday, Wednesday etc. its being splendid. Its not only during
weekends, I could work during the week. The pay has being forthcoming. In this
business you are not the only stake holders in the job, others people are
there, its left for you to build yourself in other to achieve what you aim at.
At the end what gets to you, should be able to get whatever you want.
How many albums have you release?
I have
released about three albums in the market. There is a new one I’m currently
working on it and it is titled New Wine. It has about three tracks on it.
Do you compose your songs all by
yourself?
What I do
is that, I mix them all. I compose my music by myself, and those church songs I
add them up to what I already have on ground.
As an artiste, what inspires you?
It has to
be God Almighty. There is nobody that can give you the inspiration you need.
There is nothing he can’t do.
Where would one place your kind of
gospel songs?
I would
say my kind of gospel is corporate gospel. It is not like juju music.
Most gospel artiste of nowadays,
when they release and music to the market, especially the audio cassette, you
will notice that the side A contains gospel, while the side B contains them
appreciating some people, is that how your music is?
Well, I
won’t say that I don’t do that, I do that some times. One has to appreciate the
people behind you. It’s not wrong.
What you are saying s that it is
not wrong to praise man and at the same time praise humans?
No, don’t
get me wrong. There is no wrong in appreciating those who are useful to ones
life.
There is so much condemnation of
our gospel artiste, especially the female, with the way they dress, and also
having collaboration with a non gospel artiste. Is this right?
Well for
me, I can’t do that. That is doing collaboration with a non gospel artiste.
When you know where you are coming from, you won’t delve out of what you
already know you are going. I have my foundation in church, everything that is
outside of the scripture I don’t do it as a Christian. Whatever song that is
outside the inspiration of God, I can’t collaborate with the artiste.
So, you don’t cant do a Collabo
with someone who does not get inspiration from God?
You see
gospel artistes have a way of singing their songs, so I don’t see myself doing
a Collabo with an artiste like that.
So, you don’t cant do a Collabo
with someone who does not get inspiration from God?You see gospel artistes have a way
of singing their songs, so I don’t see myself doing a Collabo with an artiste
like that.
How did you come about the name OMO OBA ORUN?
Actually when we attend
fellowship, when we pray, i call God Oba Orun, that was far back
1994/1995. So the president of my fellowship got to discover that I always
mention that name, and from there he started calling me Omo Oba Orun.

the chairman has done.
According to Idris Wahab, he said that “when I resume
working on Friday, I was surprised at what I saw; some men were busy repairing
the road. It’s a thing of joy to me because, the way I spent money to repair my
bike (Okada), will reduce to an extent”. He noted.
Also speaking was John Meniwa, who said “I’m happy that they
remembered the road, because this road has been in a bad shape, during the
raining season, it always the worst”, but now with the road done I can see that
the flood will not be a thing to worry about”. He said
He also urged the local government chairman to extend their
good works to other areas, which need to be repair. “I want to use this medium,
to appeal to the chairman; it is not only this road that was needed to be
repaired, but others too need urgent repair”; it will be great if it will be
done”. He added.
Some residents who spoke to inside Lagos, said that what the
local chairman did was a great way of showing to them, that he still have them
in mind, but urged him to carry out more work, because some area in the local
government needs to be done, especially drainages.

they did was a sign that good things
were set to come, but it should be extend to other areas of the local
government”, the street will be free of flood, when it rains, but others
streets in the area may not get the same benefits”.

in the area.
President’s Pardon of Alamieyeseigha an Abuse of State Power- CSNAC
A member of Civil Society Network against Corruption (CSNAC) has expressed great sense of disappointment over the presidential pardon granted to the convicted former Governor of Bayelsa state Mr. Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.
According to the
Group, chairman, Olanrewaju suraju he said that The granting of a pardon to Mr.
Alamieyeseigha is nothing short of the presidents insensitivity to the plight
of Nigerians who suffer everyday the consequences of the corrupt actions of its
leaders.
“Though, the 1999
constitution under sec.175 (1) confers on the president the power to grant
pardon to any person convicted of any offence created by an act of the National
Assembly, but our country has lost over $380 billion dollars to graft between1960
to 1999”. “This is the same country that
60% of these citizens leave on less than a dollar a day”. He said.
He also added
that “We verily believe that the president’s pardon of Alamieyeseigha was done
on personal grounds, with the president publicly acknowledging the ex-governor
as his political benefactor” “Others
included in the pardon are mere smoke-screen to achieve the ultimate objective
of the President”.
He continued
that, “this act therefore is tantamount to an abuse of power, and contravenes
sec.15 (5) of the constitution which provides that the state shall abolish all
corrupt practices and abuse of power”. He added
He further said
that “ with this singular act, the administration of President Good luck Jonathan
has confirm his government's purported fight against corruption to be nothing
but a ruse”. “this and many other
actions of the President sends only one clear message to all public officials
high and low, "corruption and abuse of office is the fundamental objective
and directive principle of policy" of this government”. He noted

Residents laments deteriorating state of the Powerline road in Sango Ota.
“Our government have abandoned us”,and why is it that its during
election that they make empty promises that will not be fulfilled?asked by a
commercial motorcyclist who was lamenting on the deteriorating state of the
Powerline road in Sango Ota.
He narrated his experience on the road which was
usually a “shortcut”from Powerline to Adalemo which is now an abandoned
road, they face harrowing experience on a daily basis due to the failure of government to provide them
with basic infrastructure. For him,all the praises showered on the Government of
Ogun state is not worth it,as far as he is concerned, the government is not
performing to his expectation.
Motorists who pass through Adalemo to Ijoko road before now
sees the road now as a death trap and a no-go area, the “once upon a time”good
road has now been abandoned because it is not motorable again. Also affected are
small cars whose end results for their owners who dare the road are
indiscriminate visits to mechanic village and incurring unnecessary expenses.
A resident of Powerline Sango Ota said that living in the
suburb areas should be a thing of greater expectation and joy because it helps
to decongest the metropolis in Nigeria today, but the roads leading to suburbs
are now in deplorable conditions. He explained that if the road is repaired,it
will be easy and stress-free for both motorists and motorcyclist, and will also
boost commercial activities in the area.He appeals to the Ogun State government
to come to their behalf and find a lasting solution to the road, and also said
that Landlords should also not depend on government for everything but should
at all times make attempt to do things before the government intervenes.
Former member of kush, opens ONE MANAGEMENT OPENS NEW OFFICE AND AUDIO VISUAL FACILITY
All the one management clients were
present these included Ebisan, Wizboyy, Provabs, Joseph Benjamin, Kemi Lala,
Dipp and Styl-plus supported by the One Management resource team who run the
day to day business of the one stop media and entertainment solutions company.
interview with Emem, former member of Kush
How did you come
about 1 management?
We have been into the business for long time, but then we
only manage artistes, manage events, before, we decided to take it to a next
level, which is about production, creative concept, career development and the
rest. All this is still under management. What is left for us is that they
should patronize us.
Can you tell us the
events you have managed?
We did a couple, which are:
This day newspaper music Festival, sound city music Video awards, Hip
Hop awards. We also did some work with British council, LLNG and some movies
too, like Figurine, Tango with me and many more. It’s being interesting. It’s all part of moving the entertainment
industry.
Can we have some
names on your management?
We have Joseph Benjamin, Ebisan, Dipp, Styl Plus, wizboy,
kemi Lala and Provabs. We still hope to have more artistes on our management.
What is the
relationship like?
We simply manage their career and keep them on board. We
make sure that people out there appreciate their work and talent in so many
ways. Their albums, will be decided by the management who and who it will be
distributed to, who they should sign on to, and what part of production they
should be part of.
You don’t really have
much establish artiste, why?
One has to start from somewhere; we have to mix the
established and the young ones in the industry. We like to grow talents,
organically. Let me say this, before now, nobody knew about Ebisan, two –three
years ago, but now she is well known, we organically developed her to this
stage. Her music is being accepted and it’s making waves. Our artists have the
potentials and talents.
How was it like to
have a place like this?
I will say it is a new level for me. There is a huge
responsibility on us right now. We have to be more vigilant, more security wise
and careful in whatever we do.
Tell us how you
started with this concept?
Well we started on my mom dinning table in the sitting room,
then we were also in Victoria Island , at the
back of Globacom and now we are here in Dolphin Estate. We needed a place that
where people we have to stay and be creative without any disruption. We want
our artiste to work in a safe and conducive environment, so that the
inspiration they get will not stop flowing. We don’t want a situation where by,
the artistes will be in a hurry, when recording, because of electricity. We
created an atmosphere where they can actually realize their potentials’.
How do you cope with
your artistes?
That’s why we are called management. We try as much as
possible to understand each other; it’s like being in a relationship, when you
have to understand your partners in order for the relationship to flow.
What has kept you
going?
I would say the challenges and the fantastic talents we
have, that have kept me going. When we started, we didn’t think about all this,
but now we have to keep going. We have many people who had been supportive over
the years and still are. My mom and sister are very supportive, they are number
one. I think it will fall short of your imagination, the type of videos we will
be shooting. We have a lot of talents that are great. Every artiste has to have
a management, a face that will represent them. With every new client we learn
new lessons.
Can you tell us what is inside of the building?
We have a standard recording studio, non liner and editing
suite, we have quality cameras that is being used in the movie world. We also
have the best editors and engineer at the moment. I will leave the rest for
those who are interested to come and see by themselves. In a couple of months,
we will bring Grammy award winning producers to the country and work with them.
The word is out there already, we are ready as ever.
You were formally a
lawyer, how do you handle situation, whereby artistes fall apart in one or two
years, into the management relationship?
Like I said earlier, It’s like any other relationship, but
we have a water tight contract, Joseph Benjamin has been with us for about 2-3
years, while Ebisan has being with us for four years, Provabs has being with us
from inception. There must be a reason all these artistes are with us. When the
time is right to move on, they will. The Lawyer side of me is always on, when
we are negotiating or endorsing for our client.
This building would
have cost a lot of money; can you tell us the exact amount?
Laughs………. I don’t want to under estimate or over estimate.
We work for this every day. Lets me say it cost us a huge amount of money. The
main thing is that we build a place, where people can come up to and have a
swell time, while doing their work.
Tell your stint with KUSH , back then?
Well it was through KUSH ,
people probably know my name. it was a fantastic experience and platform for
me. We were extremely creative. Our album then, if you listen to the music, you
will know that one song will be different from that in our second album. People
enjoyed each track. The group is still fantastic. We are still involved with
one another.
Ever since the Group
broke up, do you still keep in contact?
Of course yes, we still do. As a matter of fact, we are
working with Ty Bello, she is a good and Fantastic photographer and we need her
service. We also handle some works for her. She was at the event. This is my
version of being solo. Lara George also, she is now into Gospel music and catering.
She is doing well in her chosen field as well.
Do you handle
Artistes with secular music?
No we don’t. If you
notice Provabs does inspirational and hip hop gospel songs, Styl plus sings
RnB, wizboy is a new high life singer, Ebisan does Soul Music. We accept artiste that have great talents for
music.
What was the main
reason KUSH broke up?
We wanted to explore so many things. S you can see, Ty Bello
is into photography, am into management, while Lara George is into gospel music
and catering business. She is a mother now and we are happy for her.
Are you guys planning
to come up with a track?
Am not the right person to ask, but we are constantly
planning on doing something like this.
Which one pays, music
or Management?
The two pays for me, but music is my love. I can sit down
and be creative in singing my own song, and put it on I-tunes, or whatever
platform that pays for me.

We need borehole, residents of Odi-Olowo local government cries out
They say water is a gift of nature, but the residents of
Odi-Olowo local government are not enjoying the benefits of the free borehole
that was made available after the present chairman, Honurable Dadua Kako
created it years ago. They are appealing to him to come to their rescue, as they
claim the Aboki popularly known as “Meruwa,” are feeding heavily from them.
Some of the residents who made this known said that they don’t have any other choice than to call Mallam’s
who sell their water in truck to buy and when one buys a truck every day for a
month, that will amount to one having a water pump in the compound he or she
stays.
According to one of the residents, who pleaded Anonymity, he
said, “when it comes to water, we don’t enjoy those benefits.” The present chairman
did provide us a borehole, but we were many that use the public tap, and before
we can say jack, it was spoilt. It is not the first time such thing is
happening.” He said.
He also added that, “you see all these Mallams carrying
water in truck, they feed on us, and they buy a truck at the price of forty
naira, but will sell a whole truck for us at the rate of a hundred and twenty
naira”. Just imagine those that buy a truck every day.
He continued, “Although I have been seeing few public tap in
the area, but it is always slow, they have to push it up and down for water to
come out, and it depends on electricity”. He noted
Also another resident, who simply gave his name as Mr.Balogun
said that the case may not differs, as those residents who lives upstairs get
to pay higher amount of money, than those staying downstairs.
His words, “those that are living upstairs, the aboki’s
charge them the sum of two hundred naira, because they will climb the steps to
the apartment of their customer. If you calculate that at the end of the month,
it is what some people collect as salary. “I want to use this medium, to appeal to the
chairman, he should try to provide us boreholes, not just one, but few that
will go round the environment. He also added that most of the streets that are
affected are TAWOSE, IDERA, and AWOYUNKUN are mostly the street that has no
borehole. The one at TAWOSE is spoilt, while the one at AWOYUNKUN is provided
by a mosque.
One of the residents of the area, who gave her name as
Esther, said, the chairman is doing well in terms of education, because of the
free ride he provides for students of public schools, but the issue of water
still remain a major concern.
According to her “we need public boreholes in this area,
because all these Mallams has turn themselves into small god, where you will be
begging them to pour water for you. “ we don’t have enough commercial pump, the
few ones depend on PHCN, before they start to sell water. She said.
She further went on to explain, “We have a compound that has
a tap that functions, when there is light, but the owner late last year decided
to build a big gate, because of the children that are being sent to get water
from them.
“At times, you see children fighting one another, when you
ask them, they will tell you that he or she was the first to come and fetch
water. “The chairman should please help us out. She said.
we need good roads, residents cry out
Commercial bike riders plying the route of Shyllon Street, off
palm grove bus-stop, has lamented about the bad roads in the area.
According to reports made known, by some of
the bike riders, it was learnt that they were formally at palm grove bus-stop,
but were later moved to shyllon, due to the Ban of Okada riders, along Ikorodu
road.
One of the riders, Raheem Lawal, said that the streets need
urgent repair. “This route leads to other streets and it is very bad”, from the
beginning of the street and the end, it is filed with potholes and this cause a
lot of damage to our bike”. He said
Also speaking to inside Lagos was one Mr. Okon who said that “we pay
money to these area boys that arrange this place for us”, if rain falls, this
place is worse, because the drainage there is already blocked”. He noted.
