Girioud: Winning The Title Still Our Major Aim

After failing to secure a win against Southampton in yersday mid- week game, Arsenal forward has express his dissatisfaction of moving back to the fourth position on the Barclay Premier League.

The Frenchman says the team needs to up their game in order to keep the momentum high, if they are to climb further up on the BPL table.

"We had so many chances to score and we didn’t do it,”he told Arsenal Player.“We missed chances here and it could have been maybe 4-1 or 5-2 but their keeper did well and it is hard.“You have to keep the faith and keep believing that you will maybe score. That is what we tried to do but he (Fraser Forster) had a very good day. He was always in the right position and did very well and it is frustrating.”

The French national is optimistic, arsenal can still chase the title. Despite their failure to secure a win in their last to premiership games.

“It’s a long way to go and we just need momentum. Hopefully we can start that against Bournemouth and then after we have a big February and March until the international break.“Hopefully we are going to have better nights to come, because tonight we were a bit unlucky and a bit sad to draw."

He added: “Now we are five points from Leicester City so it is going to be a hard time in the few weeks to go and we need to get as many points as we can.“It’s not over. we need to stay positive and be more efficient in the next games to come," he noted.

Kelechi Iheanacho Set To Debut In UEFA Champion League

Kelechi Iheanacho has been drafted into the squad that will play in the Uefa Champion League, due to injuries on Samir Nasri and Wilfred Bony, thus making the club come short of strikers, according to Manuel Pellegrini.

The Chilean affirmed that it was a decision difficult to make, but the need for a striker has to come in front, as injury continues to plague Ivorian striker, Bony.

“Yes, Kelechi will be in the Champions League squad. I told Samir Nasri i would take him out of the list as he needs two months more to be fit. We need Kelechi now as Bony is injured too. We couldn’t take the risk to go into the last 16 game with just Kun.

“It’s always difficult to tell a player he will not continue in the list but Samir understood perfectly that he needs at least two months more.“It wouldn’t have been easy for him to recover his best performance in that length of time.“We needed another striker and Kelechi is in a good moment.

He continued: “Kelechi is one player in our squad. it’s important when young players have the option to show why they’re an important player. He will continue trying to fight to start every game. For me, as a manager, you have to work with the whole squad as we have to play so many games.“It’s important for everyone, not just for the players but for the club who’ve invested a lot of money in the training ground to have players arriving from the Academy into the first-team.“It’s important to bring young players into the first-team but they must be good players so that we continue to be a competitive team.

“The injuries are the same names with Kompany, Mangala, Samir Nasri, De Bruyne and Bony. The player that is fit is Kolarov. Fabian Delph has a small problem from the last game so he’s not on the squad list for tomorrow.“It’ just a kick in Fabian’s calf. it’s not a serious injury. We have to play again on Saturday so I don’t want to take the risk.”

He further revealed that he does not know if Bony injury is very serious, but knows he will be out for a long time.

"I don’t know if Wilfired’s injury is serious but it’s longer. He tried to start working harder and he couldn’t, so he’s now restarting.”

Chelsea Football Club of England Captain, John Terry has said it will be a sad thing to him if he does not end his hang his boot at the club he started his football career.

John was recruited into the first team from the academy. He joined the club at the age of fourteen, and despite so, the club are yet to open talks with the long serving captain on the possibility of giving him a new contract.

“Ideally, I would have loved to stay, but the club’s moving in a different direction“I couldn’t play for another Premier League club,” said Terry.

But, the club has released a statement stating  that though nothing is on offer to one of the oldest serving defender of the club, however, things could change in the next couple of weeks.

According to the statement, " He is a fantastic servant of Chelsea Football Club and a superb captain and, as such, the club will keep the channels of dialogue open. “While no new deal currently on the table, that situation could change in the coming months."

As the Super Eagles of Nigeria prepare to play against the pahroes of Egypt in the  Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers , Former Nigeria International shot stopper, Peter Rufia, has told Sunday Oliseh to Evaluate himself.

'Dodomayana' as he was fondly called during his playing days, explains that the country does not lack expertise when it comes yo football, but the need to see failure as a lesson, rather than dwelling on it. Because it is a building process, since the Eagles are passing through that stage.

Chukwu: Tunisia And Guinea Will Be Tough For Nigeria

As the Home based Super Eagles of Nigeria kicked of their campaign at the Africa Nations Championship on a good note, after they whipped the ' Menas' of Niger   4-1 in yesterday’s second match in the Group C game, former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu has heaped praises on the team, adding that the victory is a sure booster against their next game.

“It’s a good result and the right way to starttheir title campaign at the African Nations Championship in Rwanda. The massive win will certainly motivate the team to go further in the biennial football championship.

“Of course, Tunisia and Guinea will certainly be tougher than Niger Republic given the hard fought 2-2 draw in their own clash.“Three points is quite good for the Eagles going forward in the championship in Kigali, Rwanda,” he told supersport.com.

Eagles will face Tunisia on Friday at the Stade Regional Nyami-rambo in Kigali.

Opinion: Looking Beyond Niger Victory

Many thought the the home-based Eagles, won' t be able to fly past their  fellow West African neighbours, but they got thrilled with an entertaining game as they thrashed the 'Menas' of Niger by four goals, which their opponent were able to pull one back, through Zakari Adebayor.

Was the Victory Worth Celebrated?

No doubts, the Super Eagles gaffer, Sunday Oliseh knows what he is doing, but a victory against a team that many see as the under- dog in group C, which has Tunisia, Guinea, Niger and Nigeria it self.

Winning the first game in any competitive tournament is very sacrosanct, not just winning, but also getting the much desire goals, which the ' Local Players' did, thanks to beautiful goals from Okoro and Chikartara Elvis, who scored and hat trick.

Nobody is saying the Eagles should not celebrate, but they should also have it ' pasted on their forehead' (Focus) that they face a more tactical team, which is Tunisia, and our North African brothers won't hesitate to feed  on any little mistake we make, when we face them.

Was Oliseh Right To Make Early Changes?

  As par the early changes made by Oliseh, nothing was wrong. He saw some players were not in the game and made early substitutions which paid off, although it might have been risky, if one the players had injury, but all in all, it worked out well.

Dapo Lam salutes 3SC players

Oyo State sports commissioner Dapo Lam Adesina has tasked 3SC to win the league and play international football next year.

"You promised to win the league and make a continental ticket last season, but you failed to accomplish it despite our motivation for you,” Dapo Lam told the players.

"We must lift a trophy this season because we are tired of staying at home and not travelling to Mozambique or Tunisia and you know what this means.

“No more Father Christmas because we have been treating you fine since August 2011, when we came on board but you have not repaid us and we are not happy about this.

“Though you are doing well, that is not enough, you have to turn around the club by ensuring we play international football next year. We have the players to do this.”

He further challenged the Shooting Stars.

"Win us continental or league and see what we will do for you, that is what we expect from you. If you finish well, we will do what will surprise you, what has never happened in the history of the team, you will receive. I promise you that.”
